Churches will be open for private prayers –

My dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

All gatherings no matter how small the group are not to meet until instructed. Please abide by this for your safety and for the safety of others.

With all the Masses being canceled, I am working on ways to help you stay informed and grow spiritually through this time of physical separation. We are truly out in the desert this Lenten Season but know you are not alone. Please continue to check our website ckcocatholics.org daily for new information. In the next couple days, I will send out information regarding when and where Masses (EWTN) can be viewed, and when I will be hearing Confessions.

Know that the Churches will be open to pray private prayers. Listed are when the church will be open.

St. Bridget, Scammon –                  everyday 8:00 am – 6:00 pm

St. Rose of Lima, Columbus –      everyday 8:00 am – 6:00 pm (use the side door by the rectory)

St. Joseph, Baxter Springs* –    Tuesdays, 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm

Saturdays, 4:00 pm – 6:00pm

St. Patrick, Galena* – Wednesdays, 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm

                                                                Sundays, 10:30 am – 1:00 pm

* if you would like to pray in the church during the time not listed please contact Lila Swaney for Galena and Geniene Kuehn for Baxter Springs. They would be happy to let you in the church.

You are welcome to take a Pray Together missalette or Word Among Us book home with you to use for Mass and to pray the daily readings. You may keep the books. During Lent, some of the churches may have the Stations of the Cross books out for you to use. If you need something else let me know.

I know this is not an ideal situation we are in, still trying to wrap my mind around it, but may we use it to grow closer to the Lord. Each Lent when we go out into the desert, we offer up certain pleasures and joys. During this time of without, may it help us to be more appreciative of the things we take for granted such as going to Mass daily or every Sunday.

I encourage you to pray for one another and to pray the rosary for your own strength, the sick, the medical personal, and those trying to stop the virus from spreading. Pray the rosary together as a family. Know that you all have been and will continue to be in my prayers. We ask St. Joseph the protector and guardian of the Holy Family and the Universal Church to watch over and protect our families as well.

In Christ through Mary,

Fr. Jeremy Huser
